Of Counsel, Susan A. Ott, has a strong background as a former hospital administrator and nonprofit executive in western Pennsylvania. Ms. Ott has served as President of a hospital system foundation and research institute, as Executive Director of both regional and national nonprofit organizations and as President of her own management consulting company. She is a recognized expert in the areas of grantsmanship, charitable resource development and strategic planning, especially as it relates to healthcare and medical research.

Having spent several years at UPMC as a patient advocate, legal intern and as attorney in both the corporate legal and physician services divisions, she now concentrates her legal practice in health law, the law of nonprofit organizations, business law and estates and trusts.

Ms. Ott has legal experience in physician contracting, medical practice sales, credentialing, business transactions, tax exempt issues, conflict of interest management, accreditation, regulatory and academic medical matters, governance, corporate mergers, acquisitions and affiliations.

A speaker and published author on various healthcare and nonprofit law subjects, she has won recognition from the Pennsylvania Bar Association for her paper on the legalities involved in electronic medical records and is a contributing writer for “Jack Owen’s Tax-Exempt Alert”.

Ms. Ott is a lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh of Greensburg on Health Law, Policy and Ethics, a lecturer on Estates and Trusts for the Community College of Allegheny County, and has been a guest lecturer on nonprofit/tax-exempt law and ethics for Duquesne University School of Law and for the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
